What is the TACK function?
The TACK function is particularly suitable for those who spot weld or make very short welding seams. With the TAK position activated, the auto darkening filter will maintain an intermediate shade – around shade 5 – between spot and spot, to avoid sharp light contrasts and improve visibility at all times. This intermediate shade will be deactivated if the auto darkening filter does not detect a new welding arc after 2 seconds.
What is the TACK function for?
The homogenisation of dark and light shades, in addition to improving visibility throughout the welding process, in the same way as the MIX function does, also reduces eye strain and therefore fatigue is less noticeable. This means that the welder will finish the day’s work with a less stressed and sharper view.
And last but not least, with the TACK function, as the light shade remains in an intermediate shade, the time to go completely dark again when starting the next spot will be quicker to avoid flashes at the start of welding.
Here is a short demonstration video:
This function is also available on the new LC568E and LC568I auto darkening filters for the DC-1 and DC-2 welding helmets as well as on the X3 MAX and F1 MAX welding helmets.
Both functions are complementary and can be activated together or separately:
What is MIX function?
The new MIX function depends on the selected DELAY (Dark to clear time) and combines:
- Dark shade maintenance: time the auto darkening filter maintains the dark shade after welding.
- Gradiant: a progressive return to the light shade to avoid a sudden change of light for greater visual comfort.
- Pre-start: Instead of returning to its light yellowish shade, the filter maintains a light grey shade and in “alert position” so that the reaction time when starting the new spot or weld bead is super fast (0.04 ms).
The longer the delay time selected, the slower the sequences described above.
What is the MIX function for?
The new MIX function provides unprecedented eye comfort in the world of auto darkening filters. The elimination of sudden light changes before, during and after the weld seam minimises eye strain and gives the welder’s eyes maximum visual comfort without eye strain. Less eye strain means less eye fatigue for perfect vision even after many hours of work.
The new MIX function is available on the new LC568E and LC568I auto darkening filters that equip the DC-1 and DC-2 welding helmets.
